Ashley Gurley said she believed it was important to start local chapters to give Christian conservative students a place to meet and share ideas.
“We need to start Turning Point chapters where these kids can share their views and have civil debate. They need a place where they can speak. Many times they face a lot when they try to share their faith or conservative political views,” she said. “Now, they are finding their voice.”

Fast forward to Thursday night, and the script flipped. There were fireworks early, literally and figuratively, as ECU exploded for 21 unanswered points in the first quarter against Army, despite being favored by only 4.5.
But after that? Silence. The $750-per-launch fireworks ended with the first quarter, and so did the scoring. “She’s owned this building since 2021,” Town Attorney Arey Grady told the board. “The encroachment agreement has been on the table since the spring of 2024 ... I’m sorry the update isn’t more positive but this is where we are.”
Grady said he remained convinced that if the town releases the encroachment agreement and records it “we will be sitting here wondering when anything is going to happen with the building or when a schedule will be forthcoming or shared with us.”
