Matt here! I just finished up a 3-day music mixing masterclass with multiple Grammy award winner Michael Brauer! Unless you're a real liner notes reader, you might not know Michael's name. But you've undoubtedly heard his contributions to pop music over the past half century. To name a VERY few of his 2300+ mixing credits, Michael mixed "Viva La Vida" (Coldplay), "Heartbreak Warfare" (John Mayer), "You Found Me" (The Fray), "You Get What You Give" (The New Radicals), "Ex's and Oh's" (Elle King), along with countless other songs and albums from the likes of Paul McCartney, Bon Jovi, Luther Vandros, Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, The Pet Shop Boys, and Luke Combs, to name just a very few.

Michael "plays" the mixing console like a performer on stage. He has an uncanny ability to find movement and musicality in every part of each song he works on. It was really fun to have a chance to watch him work, learn about his approach to mixing, and hopefully pick up a bunch of new ideas for how to approach mixes for my clients!

It's been a fun week here at with Stacy Burcham! We've been working on some new music for News At Eleven, along with some of Stacy's own music, too! We got a surprise visit from fellow News At Eleven vocalist Gina Swanda on Wednesday (FOUR of us in one place at the same time? insane). Plus, Stacy got an assist on backing vocals from our very own Ann MacPhail, along with alum (and first cousin!) Maddie MacPhail! Lots of great music coming (hopefully!) soon.

A little catch-up writing for the studio blog... here's a (backdated!) post from March about the recording sessions with the Mount Holyoke Victory Eights (V8s). ULS's Ann Lyles MacPhail returns to her roots with a visit from her old college a ca****la group.

This week, 10 college students were here, crashing on couches & inflatable mattresses, as they spent their spring break with us recording a new album.
