The places we grow up and the people within them shape who we become.
Orange Beach has been the backdrop of many milestones in my life, but the most important one of all is that this is where I came to know Jesus.
It was December of 2000. I was five, about to turn six (one of the lucky ones whose birthday is the day after Christmas 🎄🤣). My mom and I had stopped at the post office. She went inside to mail packages, and I stayed in the car because I didn’t want to stand in line- clearly, the line must have been long 🤣
While I was sitting there, something profound happened. I became deeply aware that without Jesus, there is no hope and that I needed and wanted the hope only He provides.
I know that might sound like a random or strange beginning to a salvation story 🤣 But the Lord has a way of meeting us exactly where we are. For me, it was at almost six years old, sitting in the Orange Beach Post Office parking lot.
When my mom got back in the car, I told her I needed to pray that prayer and I needed to pray it fast 🤣
Of course, it’s not the specific words that save us. It’s the understanding that the stories in the Bible aren’t just stories but that they are truth. Without Christ, there is eternal separation. With Him, there is hope, peace, and joy.
I turn 30 in just a couple of weeks, and it’s hard to put into words the gratitude I have for my hometown. Even more special is that now, this is a place that Clay and I get to call home together 🩵🌴🌊🍊🦈
A week from today we can’t wait to worship with y’all for our first service in the greatest hometown I could ask for 🎄❤️❄️🌊🌴
