Some stories are provided by MC 327 TV & Online Reporting students as well as seniors in the MC 499 Multimedia Journalism Capstone course. We are a University Affiliate of CNN.

Today, we honor Juneteenth, which commemorates the date of June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved Black families were informed of their newly granted freedom two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. ❤️💛💚

Juneteenth is officially recognized as both a U.S. federal holiday and a holiday in the state of Alabama as a time of observance, remembrance and celebration. In recognition of this important day, University of Montevallo offices will be closed and return to normal operations Friday, June 20.
