What was a time that you felt like you weren’t ready, but did it anyway?
This was a skill that I worked in a lot when I did professional improv. Even though it was exciting, it was nerve wracking too.
When you take a risk, your brain works hard to protect you from possible danger, reminding you of all the things that could go wrong. It’s trying to help but often ends up getting you into a place where stagnancy seems like the best option.
A little practice that I like to do (partially from Thich Naht Hanh) is to picture your tension and anxiety as a person. This person cares a lot about you, and is going on and on with warnings about what could happen. You picture giving that person a hug and say “thank you for trying to protect me”. And then you say goodbye and walk away.
What is burning inside of you that you haven’t lived yet?
