The Brink is owned and operated by Mike Reina and features his collection of rare vintage instruments and outboard equipment. Mike is a producer/engineer/musician and composer and has toured the U.S. He currently fronts The Jackfields and is a multi-instrumentalist in the NYC-based Dead Heart Bloom. He has worked with major and indie label artists as well as independent artists. His former bands w
ere Inches to Flood, Phaser (featuring Dead Heart Bloom bandmates Boris Skalsky and Paul Wood), Mason Brothers, and Skysaw (featuring Smashing Pumpkins drummer, Jimmy Chamberlin). Reina gained invaluable production and engineering experience working alongside Bohemian Rhapsody great Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, The Cars) during his tenure as Skysaw's frontman. The Brink is centered around a vintage and fully restored MCI JH-542 mixing console and can accommodate all-analog tracking and mixing sessions as well as Pro Tools HD2 sessions with 32 input and 32 output channels of mastering grade converters. Analog sessions are recorded to a vintage, restored and modified 2" MCI JH-24 with 16 and 24 track headblocks. Mixes are documented to a vintage 1/2" Ampex ATR-100 that was restored and modded by Mike Spitz at ATR Services. The studio vibe is a cozy and comfortable living room atmosphere conducive to the creative flow of ideas. The easiest way to describe The Brink is that one must see it to believe it.
