Ok, I’ve got to get this off my chest from a professional standpoint. I find it completely unprofessional, unacceptable and insulting behavior for companies to not allow receptionists to provide basic information to callers. Case in point, I just got off a “cold call” to a major advertising agency in New York, asking for the name of a media buyer on a major account so I could give them information on MTRN. I was told that I needed to give them the name of the person I wanted to talk to...? You can see where this is going... I hung up, went to their website, drilled down several pages until I found a name and email address for someone in the media department. I can only hope that this person will respond to my request and put me in touch with right people. This practice is doing a disservice to their clients as they are limiting advertising/marketing opportunities that they may not be aware of. This is why I have a direct phone number; I answer it myself.
