Starting a new chapter in Orlando has me reflecting on the journey that brought me here. Being a single mom makes you truly appreciate the ones who cheer you on, and I’m missing my younger brother—who always showed up for me in ways he never had to—and my mom, whose love is always with me. Their support fuels the passion I pour into creating desserts and displays that make weddings and events unforgettable.

About P&S

Petals & Sugar is owned and operated by myself, Leslie Doerfler. I'm a one-woman show, from my website down to my confections, I put pride and love into all I do! I developed a love of food and in particular desserts early on, every good memory was attached to beautiful & delicious food. I remember as a child checking out all the cookbooks from the library and writing down all the dessert and candy making recipes to try out. Art was a huge influence on my life as well and I always had a hand in some sort of medium be it clay, paint or some other textile. So it only made sense to combine my two loves eventually! I had some background in working for a local bakery, The Lollicake Queen, working as their head baker making delicious lollicakes for Sarasota and learning what it meant to be a girl boss. I then became a stay at home mom for a bit, but always had something baking up in the kitchen. It wasn't until I was working a part-time retail job a few years later and baking for their bake sales that I got the confidence (thanks to co-workers prompts) to try and sell my creations. The rest is history and hard work!!

Petals & Sugar is still a one woman-run business, with the help of my friends as I need them. Because of this I often ask my customers to email me as I'm usually going from sun up to sun down and with sugared hands, I cant always grab a phone call when it comes in:) I always try and connect with my clients to create the best sweet experience they can have & when I cant help them I work with other amazing local bakers to ensure they get great sweets and great service!

Your event should be memorable, and I want my desserts to make you smile from the moment you see them to the moment you taste them! I'm always trying to push myself as an artist and create new flavor combinations & beautiful confections that you won't easily find anywhere else. And I love finding and supporting other women in business and other confectioners, I'm still and will always be a sugar addict!
