Choosing Wisely: A Lesson in Faith and Integrity
Apostle Prince Chukwuemeka George d.th
As a young police officer, I had a side hustle as a DJ. One incident almost landed me in serious trouble. I had booked a gig at a nightclub called White House, located on Wethedral Road, near Okigwe Junction in Owerri. Unknown to me, a police officer had been killed in a recent incident, and a team of detectives from Abuja had been drafted to investigate.
The Incident Unfolds
On the night of the gig, around 3:30 a.m., I was called out by friends to help settle a situation with the police. I went out and was immediately confronted by plainclothes officers who ordered me to stay calm or face harm. I complied immediately but managed to inform the supervisor that I was a police officer.
The Aftermath
The entire management crew of the White House was taken to Shell Camp, inside the police headquarters where I served. News spread quickly that a police officer was among those brought in. The DPO came out and warned me that if he found I was involved, there would be severe consequences.
Lessons Learned
This experience taught me valuable lessons about trust, judgment, and integrity. As a leader, it's essential to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and avoid jumping to conclusions without evidence. The wisdom of the scriptures is clear: "Do not judge, or you too will be judged" (Matthew 7:1). And just as importantly, we must remember that "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud" (1 Corinthians 13:4).
Key Takeaways
* Give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
* Avoid jumping to conclusions without evidence.
* Seek wisdom and guidance in times of uncertainty.
Reflection
This experience has profoundly shaped my perspective on faith and integrity. It taught me that my own understanding is limited, and that I must "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding" Proverbs 3:5. May this story inspire others to trust in a higher plan and seek wisdom in all situations.
