In the spirit of encouraging civility and quality comments the Catholic Herald encourages, but does not require, readers to use their real names.
Respectful disagreement and criticism are allowed. Personal attacks on any individual are not permitted and will be deleted.
Popes Benedict and Francis have encouraged the church to use the internet as a forum for dialogue and an exchange of ideas. In that spirit, comments will not be removed for disagreement with the Catholic Herald or the Arlington Diocese.
By posting on catholicherald.com or responding to posts on social media, readers agree that their comment/content is public and may be used in an article or elsewhere on social media/catholicherald.com.
The following content may be subject to deletion:

The Herald reserves the right to delete or otherwise reject any content that violates these guidelines.
Readers who repeatedly violate the Catholic Herald’s guidelines may be banned temporarily or permanently from use of the comments section and/or the website.
