I spent last week in New Jersey, working for my mom Sue Marinello's company "Place at the Table."

Many of you know that a thousand years and approximately 277 jobs ago, I was a public school teacher in New York City. So it's especially important to me to celebrate teachers who have dedicated decades to children's education.

Here is a story I wrote about Denville Public School District's honoring of their teachers and faculty for 25, 30, and 51 years of service to the district.

This was part of my week-long assignment in New Jersey working for my mom and fellow marketing strategist Sue Marinello. In addition to covering convocation, we launched the district's website giving information on an upcoming election. It was fun to work with my mom, even though we found out later I'd had COVID that whole time!

Labor Day may mark the unofficial end of the summer, but labor rights are in danger year-round!

In my latest blog, I countdown my top three favorite things labor rights activists have accomplished: abolishing child labor, creating a minimum wage (that needs massive updating on a federal level!), and establishing weekends.

Labor Day Weekend often feels bittersweet to me, as I am a summer enthusiast through and through. Plus, two decades of being a student followed by being a teacher automatically trigger Back to School anxiety. A super-fun end-of-summer COVID infection has only compounded these anxieties.

To counter this, I am trying to focus on the true reason for this holiday. Labor Day honors the brave labor activists and union members who have made work safer and more humane throughout the centuries. So, as we head into our final beach days, let's count down my favorite things the Labor Movement has accomplished on my latest blog.
