A new piece on the Journal.

This Mother’s Day, I have been thinking about the woman in my garden. The climbing rose tended by four generation. The flowers my daughter pressed into my hand as a little girl. My mother Claire, whose hands shaped the way I see beauty.

A few days ago at the store, a stranger touched her heart when she saw me buying a card that read, Mother. We exchanged a knowing look. It’s a knowing when you have lost a mother. Some moments between women do not need words.

This piece is for her. And for anyone whose Mother’s Day is woven with memory.

Lavender and the particular quiet that comes with it.

There is something about lavender fields that slows everything down. The color. The scent. The way French country living feels when everything around you has decided to be still for a moment. This is what Provence teaches. A beautiful life is not rushed. It is savored.

French inspired living is not about a destination. It is a way of seeing— slowly, intentionally, and with the heart. Joie de vivre is not a phrase. It is a practice.

Where does lavender take you?

À bientôt, Mary

There is something that happens when two people trust each other completely in their work.

Stéphanie formulates with botanical ingredients the way a painter composes with color — with precision, patients, and a profound respect for the skin and the woman caring for it.

Laure take everything they believe and makes it visible through her hand-painted artwork.

Two women.
Two mediums.
One extraordinary vision born was in the south of France.

is not a conventional skincare brand. It is a ritual — where French botanical skincare, slow beauty, and intentional self-care are held within a single philosophy, rooted in the rhythms of Provence, France.

A routine repeats. A ritual transforms.

Their story is now in the Merze Journal — written entirely in Stéphanie’s own words. It is one of the most beautiful things we have published, and I hope you will give yourself a few quiet minutes with it.

Some connections find you before you fully understand why.

I came across French waterless skincare | Clean beauty not through a pitch or a platform, but through a piece of artwork that simply stopped me. Something in it felt known— the softest, the depth, the quiet sense of a place I have always carried within me. I reached out to commission three illustrations not knowing where it would lead.

What followed became one of the most meaningful connections I have made since leaving the corporate world to create MERZE lifestyle — a woman’s lifestyle brand rooted in intentional living, French inspired design, and a life thoughtfully gathered. Two women —Stéphanie and Laure — who built something in Provence France that is unlike anything I have encountered. A French botanical skin care ritual house where hand-painted watercolor artwork, concentrated natural formulations, and the philosophy of slow beauty and intentional self-care are held within a single vision.

This is a house I have been honored to bring to my community.

Stéphanie wrote a recent piece in my MERZE Journal entirely in her own words, and I am proud to share it with you. It is thoughtful, unhurried, and deeply beautiful — much like everything she and Laure have created together in Provence.

There are moments when something feels familiar before you can explain why.

I found this painting in Paris, created by the artist, and it quietly stays with me. The poppies reminded me of Provence, of fields that felt both expansive and grounding.

Some places do that. They stay with you long after you leave, not just in memory, but in how you begin to see things differently.

Pieces like this carry that feeling into a home. Not as decoration, but as something that holds meaning, place, and time.
