🚨 Scam Alert in Hampton 🚨
The City of Hampton has received reports of a scam involving individuals impersonating city staff using fake email addresses and documents. These scammers are targeting people involved in the planning and rezoning process, attempting to collect unauthorized payments through fraudulent invoices.
🔒 Stay Safe – Here's What to Know:
✅ All official City of Hampton emails end in .gov.
✅ The City will never ask for payments via wire transfer, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or any other alternate forms of payment.
✅ Always double-check the sender's email address before responding.
✅ When in doubt, contact the department directly using info on hampton.gov.
📞 Report suspicious calls or emails to the Hampton Police Division’s non-emergency line at 757-727-6111.
⚠️ We’ve also had reports of possible scam phone calls. If you get a call requesting personal or payment information on behalf of the City, hang up and verify through official channels.
