📸 Heidemarie Burke – From postwar Germany to the heart of Englewood, Heidemarie has lived life through a lens—literally. At almost 80, she’s still snapping photos and moving full speed ahead. “I have no time to get old!” she says with a smile.

🤝 Liana Lazaridis – Liana was just 5 when her family left Greece to pursue the American dream. Decades later, she bravely transitioned from restaurant life to the corporate media world—led by her late mother’s words: “Build lasting relationships.”

😊 Mehtap Barut – Mehtap brought her heart from Turkey to Venice nearly 30 years ago. Known for her warmth and kindness, she greets everyone with a smile at the Venice Gondolier. Her parents taught her to lead with love—and she does, every day.

🌟 Ama Coltan – After seven tries, Ama finally got the green light to chase her dream. She and her husband left Romania with just their luggage and a leap of faith. Today, she’s a successful small business owner, proving every step of her journey was worth it.

After seven years and seven tries, Ama Coltan almost missed the email that would change her life. The eighth time was the charm—and the start of a courageous journey from Romania to the United States.

Leaving behind a comfortable life, beloved pets, and successful careers—Ama a pharmacist, Gabriel an IT network administrator—she and her husband chased her lifelong dream of freedom and self-expression. “I always felt like I couldn’t be myself in Romania,” Ama shared.

With nothing but their luggage, they arrived in Jacksonville and were welcomed by strangers from a Romanian church. Today, Ama has turned her story into a shining example of resilience, proving every skeptic wrong as she thrives as a small business owner.

Kindness, warmth, and quiet strength define Mehtap Barut. Originally from Turkey, Mehtap moved to the U.S. nearly 30 years ago with her husband. After starting their journey in New York, the couple settled in Venice 13 years ago with their two sons.

Mehtap is the welcoming face of the Venice Gondolier office, known for her empathy and grace. She carries with her the values her parents taught her—to treat others with love and respect—and honors them every day, even from across the world.

From those early days of depending on each other for everything—even entertainment—Liana grew into a bold woman who reinvented herself in her late 30s, trading the restaurant world for a career in corporate media.

Her late mother’s advice still guides her: "Build lasting relationships." And after loss, it’s those relationships that have carried her forward.
