DREA convened its Second monthly meeting, which was opened by President-Elect Dr. Barbara P. Bryant, who introduced esteemed guest speakers from South Georgia Banking Company to conduct a workshop on Personal Finance. The bank representatives, Ms. Hillary Nelson and Mr. Bobby, provided insightful information regarding the many services offered at the bank. Upon completion of the presentation, the presenters conducted a drawing and received a gift from DREA. Members Mrs. Rosa Taylor and Dr. Bobbie J. King were the fortunate winners of yhe drawing. DREA’s Inspiration Committee conducted a Memorial Service to honor the deceased members from the previous year; Members Mrs. Earlene Lester shared heartfelt reflections, Mrs. Sekeitha King lit the candles, President Dr. C. Pam Fields presented a resolution, and Ms. Minnie Harper delivered a reading.

DREA’s hardworking President, Dr. C. Pam Fields, attended the district’s Area Meeting on August 19th at Albany Technical College, where she was featured on the program to provide inspirational remarks. This meeting presented an opportunity to hear from esteemed state officials, including State President Geraldine Reid, President Elect Dr. Sallie Mills, Executive Director Dr. Bill Sloan, as well as representatives from TRS and AMBA.

DREA held its first official meeting (August 7th) for the 2025-2026 academic year, welcoming leaders dedicated to the education of our students. Attendees included Dooly County K-8 Academy Principal, Dr. Hollie Walters, Dooly County High School Principal, Mr. Alvin Williams, and Mr. Joe Willis, Director of the Dooly County Recreation Department. As a gesture of gratitude, DREA President, Dr. C. Pam Fields, presented each guest with a gift in appreciation of their time and commitment to engaging with DREA members and recognizing their contributions to the schools and community. Their dedication to our young people is truly valued. Cheers to another successful year of supporting the youth in our community!

The DREA 2025-2026 officers were formally inducted July 29th by Area 2 Director, Ms. Jane Butler. The officers include President Dr. C. Pam Fields, Vice-President Dr. Barbara P. Bryant, Immediate Past-President Mrs. Betty B. Bryant, Secretary Mrs. Valerie Almond, and Treasurer Ms. Faye Outlaw. In line with the theme, "Keeping the Vision", each officer received glasses/sunglasses to focus on their duties.

On July 26, 2025, members of DREA participated in two return-to-school events. The Dooly County Athletic Department hosted "Meet the Bobcats" at 8:00 a.m., presenting their official Media Day for the upcoming 2025 Fall season. The community was invited to meet the players, coaching staff, capture photos and videos, and gain insights into the team's preparations for the promising fall season. At 10:00 a.m., the Dooly County community organized its annual "Back to School Bash," where DREA members assisted at the registration table, distributing school supplies and book bags to families in need, while serving refreshments.

The 2025-2026 planning meeting of DREA was held today in the Media Cafe at Dooly County High School, under the leadership of Dr. C. Pam Fields. Reverend Dr. Bobby G. West commenced the meeting with an inspirational narrative, “I Sleep Well at Night,” and a prayer. Members established the organization's norms, goals, and reviewed Bylaws in preparation for its upcoming term. We are looking forward to a productive and exciting year!

DREA member, Dr. Gwen Dexter worked diligently to review scholarship applications and essays, ultimately selecting a recipient for the $1000 Georgia Association for Alternative Education (GAAE) Scholarship for 2025, and a heartfelt thank you is extended. The scholarship recipient is Madison Shannon. Madison attended Forsyth Academy. She will attend Georgia Southern University and major in Business Finance.

It is time for DREA to initiate planning for the 2025-2026 school term. We invite all retired educators to join us. A planning meeting will be held on Friday, June 27th at 9:00 am in the Dooly County High School Media Center. This term's theme is Keeping The Vision!
