The 2025-2026 planning meeting of DREA was held today in the Media Cafe at Dooly County High School, under the leadership of Dr. C. Pam Fields. Reverend Dr. Bobby G. West commenced the meeting with an inspirational narrative, β€œI Sleep Well at Night,” and a prayer. Members established the organization's norms, goals, and reviewed Bylaws in preparation for its upcoming term. We are looking forward to a productive and exciting year!

DREA member, Dr. Gwen Dexter worked diligently to review scholarship applications and essays, ultimately selecting a recipient for the $1000 Georgia Association for Alternative Education (GAAE) Scholarship for 2025, and a heartfelt thank you is extended. The scholarship recipient is Madison Shannon. Madison attended Forsyth Academy. She will attend Georgia Southern University and major in Business Finance.

It is time for DREA to initiate planning for the 2025-2026 school term. We invite all retired educators to join us. A planning meeting will be held on Friday, June 27th at 9:00 am in the Dooly County High School Media Center. This term's theme is Keeping The Vision!

In preparation for their new positions, DREA 2025-2026 President, Dr. C. Pam Fields, and President-Elect, Dr. Barbara P. Bryant, attended the GREA Officers' Training May 28th in Leslie. The training was facilitated by Ms. Jane Butler, Area 2 Director, who is responsible for Crisp, Dooly, Lee, Macon, Randolph, Stewart, Sumter, Terrell, and Turner local units.

On May 15th, the Dooly County Board of Education honored four exceptional 2024-2025 retirees, celebrating their tireless dedication to inspiring and empowering future generations. The superintendent delivered a poignant poem, highlighting their lasting impact and motivation to others. The retirees recognized for their outstanding service are Winston Keaton, Yvette Murray, Catherine Burden, and Stephanie Tyson. DREA marked the occasion with a special celebration, complete with refreshments, and eagerly anticipates welcoming these remarkable individuals to the association.

Dr. C. Pam Fields and Dr. Barbara P. Bryant participated in the 65th Annual GREA Convention, held in Augusta from May 6th-8th, as they prepared to assume their roles as President and President-Elect for 2025-2026 (Theme: Keeping the Vision). The convention featured various events, including General Sessions, Awards Banquets, and a Memorial Service which honored the memories of deceased members, including Mr. Charles Gregory, Mrs. Mildred Keaton, and Mrs. Doris Goode.
