Earthrise (1968) – William Anders (Apollo 8)
Taken from lunar orbit, this color photograph shows Earth rising over the Moon's horizon—a fragile blue marble in vast darkness. Anders captured it spontaneously, shifting humanity's perspective from Earth-centered to cosmic. It fueled the environmental movement, inspired "Overview Effect" reflections, and symbolized planetary unity and vulnerability. Widely credited with boosting ecology awareness, it's one of the most reproduced images in history.
