Hi all! This week’s guest is Marivir Montebon ( )- Journalist/CEO of WICC. Marivir’s love of journalism began as a campus journalist at the University of San Carlos in Cebu, Philippines. After college she had a career in print and broadcast media. In 2018, Marivir created OSM! (awesome!) with her daughter, an online magazine, focused on good things people do that are positive and inspires others. In addition, Marivir created a non-profit called WICC(Women’s Immigration & Communications Cafe) to help amplify their voices and actions. In 2022, she created Conversations with MM, a digital talk show on YouTube, LinkedIn & Facebook platforms. This week’s guest is Aayusha Prasain- CEO of Community Homestay Network . Aayusha grew up in a family that loved traveling, but more importantly, interacting with the locals and their cultures. Aayusha studied Development Studies, where she realized that development isn’t about implementing projects from the top down, but fostering ownership and entrepreneurship at the local level. Aayusha went on to get her Masters which focused on the sustainability of women-led entrepreneurship in Nepal. Aayusha and her CHN team collaborates with local communities to build resilient ecosystems. Hi all! This week’s episode features Luisa A. Igloria - Poet/Writer/Professor of Literature ( ). Luisa’s love of literature began when her parents introduced her to the Arts at a young age. When he father encouraged her to study Journalism as a foundation for law school, it, her English teachers convinced her to major in Literature. Her love of languages and literature led her to write poetry. Luisa has written 14 books of poetry and five chapbooks, focused on the history and the impact of colonialism on Filipinos. Prior to creating Clue, Ida led motorcycle tours around the world for 5 years. She created the term “femtech” in 2016, technology focused on women’s health and wellness. Hi all! This week I feature Erene Henninger - Owner of Project Seed Coffee (). Erene’s journey as an entrepreneur started during the pandemic when she wanted to create a coffee delivery service for those working from home. She decided to experiment with cold brew coffee and came up with 30+ flavors that could be made for her customers. While that delivery service worked well, she still wanted to a space that would connect her to the community, so she and her husband decided to open Project Seed Coffee, a cafe that features Filipino-inspired coffee and pastries. In addition, she invites artisans to showcase their works in the cafe to focus on building a collaborative community. Her journey started when she went back to school after being a stay at home Mom for years to receive her degree in software development. Her role as a developer led her to become a scrum master or technical project manager, helping her team implement Scrum principles and practices and coach them on how to improve their workflows. Hi I all! This week, I featured Dr. Patricia Wright( ) - Primatologist, Anthropologist, Conservationist. Dr. Wright has always animals stemming back from when she was a young girl. Her love of animals led her to become a Professor of Anthropology at Stonybrook University in NY. Dr. Wright is also the Founder & Executive Director of a research & training canter in Ranomafana Madagascar. Her work included discovering a new species of lemurs in 1986, helping create the 4th national park in Madagascar and making sure that the community becomes involved with maintaining that tropical environment. Chef Oz discovered her love of cooking from the meals her mother used to make when she was young, as well as watching cooking shows like The French Chef with Julia Child and Yan Can Cook. Her passion for cooking enabled her to open a catering business in Kingston, NY in 2014, before launching her restaurant, Masa Midtown in 2019, serving Turkish cuisine.
