We’re working with industry professionals across the country to bring the latest & greatest health & wellness information to the residents of Hampton Roads & the Eastern Shore of Virginia. We will also be working with & promoting local businesses that support healthy lifestyles. Eating Well, Living Well & Being Well....this is what Good For You Magazine is all about! More and more people are wanting to embrace healthier lifestyles but many don't know exactly where to start. This is where we come in! Good For You Magazine will be bringing you a "natural" approach to healthy living. Our publication is designed to be a free local print & online resource that you can turn to each month for information on health & wellness as well as helping you locate & learn more about the local businesses in Hampton Roads & the Eastern Shore of Virginia, who provide residential living, services, products, food and drink that support & embrace healthy lifestyles. It’s important to support the small local businesses in our community as well as supporting local charities who need our help. They count on us all to lend a helping hand. We want to do our part by giving 10% of all sponsor proceeds to a different local charity each month. The first recipient will be the Virginia Beach SPCA from our Holiday issue sponsors. Upcoming scheduled recipients will be announced in each month’s issue of the magazine. The Magazine: The premiere print issue will be released soon! Praying mantis are fascinating creatures. We were fortunate enough to enjoy a minute with this one that had flown into our front bush.

Mantids can turn their heads 180 degrees to scan their surroundings with two large compound eyes and three other simple eyes located between them.

In the fall, a female praying mantis lays her egg case clinging to a strong goldenrod stalk or a protected wall. Then, in early summer, one to two hundred manti emerge. Praying mantis produce one generation each season.

A praying mantis is an accomplished hunter with a huge appetite. These magnificent insects help farmers and gardeners by eating moths, mosquitoes, roaches, flies and aphids, as well as small rodents in their fields and gardens.

Reading books benefits both your physical and mental health, and those benefits can last a lifetime. They begin in early childhood and continue through the senior years. Researchers have found that 30 minutes of reading lowered blood pressure, heart rate, and feelings of psychological distress just as effectively as yoga and humor did. They also found repeatedly that people who read print books score higher on comprehension tests and remember more of what they read than people who read the same material in a digital form.
