It’s kinda crazy how fast some guys switch up once they find out I’m in the Navy—especially when things start getting close. One minute they’re all flirty and confident, and the next it’s like… vibe gone. Jokes fall flat, texts get dry, and you can almost feel them pulling back.
A lot of it feels like fear, honestly. Some guys don’t like the idea of someone in the military knowing anything real about them. Even when I’m completely off duty and just being myself, they can’t separate the uniform from the person. It’s like they assume I’m always judging or watching or something.
Others just hate anything tied to the government. To them, I’m not just doing a job—I am the system. They dump all their issues with authority onto me and suddenly I’m “too serious,” “too political,” or on the “wrong side.” Attraction dies the second they start projecting.
And then there’s the ego thing. Some men really don’t know how to handle a woman who’s disciplined, trained, and confident in her power. It messes with their sense of control, and instead of dealing with that, they’d rather disappear.
So when they fall off, I’ve learned it’s usually not about me. It’s about their fear, their bias, and their insecurity showing up the moment things start to get real.
