My client’s hair matted into a high bun almost 3 years ago.

I see the comments under my dematting videos and it’s disgusting.

If you can look at these videos and think that someone is “just lazy” or they’re “trifling” because of the condition of their hair, something is wrong with YOU.

I choose not to share my clients’ stories because you don’t get to decide if their reasons are “good enough” to justify their hair being matted.

Everyone copes with life’s challenges differently.
If you haven’t noticed, there are people ending their lives because they don’t feel that they can ask for help.

I’m thankful that my clients have built up the courage to ask for help! I’m thankful that they trust me to remove a great burden off of them. They allow me to record their services to help the next person struggling with matting. It’s disheartening to see their vulnerability being mocked and shamed.

Shame on all of you who choose to comment these things. Life has a funny way of showing you just how things can be. Watch what you say.

I went to a facility to put a few braids in a gentleman’s hair. He asked me, “do you want gloves?” I asked why I would need gloves to braid his hair and he smiled.

We continued our conversation as I braided his hair. By the time I left, he felt seen, heard, and even more handsome than when I came in!

As stylists, the best part of our job is how we make others feel. Our clients should feel as good as they look ❤️
