McLennan County authorities are investigating a Friday the 13th incident at the county jail where about a dozen inmates may have been exposed to HIV through a medical injection. Officials say the nurse may have used the same medication vial on a known HIV-positive inmate before later using it on others. Once the potential exposure was discovered, the jail offered post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) — a **28-day antiviral regimen that must start within 72 hours to help prevent infection.

A Baylor donor has stepped in to cover the cost of the remaining upper-level tickets for the Baylor Women’s Basketball game against TCU. Fans can pick up free tickets starting at 5 PM at the Foster Pavilion Ticket Center while supplies last.

Waco’s Lunar New Year celebration is coming to the Downtown Farmers Market on Saturday, February 21 from 9 AM–1 PM at Bridge Street Plaza (200 E Bridge St).

The Asian Leaders Network is hosting their third annual Lunar New Year Market to celebrate the Year of the Horse with live cultural performances, lion dances, music, and martial arts demos throughout the morning.

Visitors can enjoy family-friendly activities, a free Lunar New Year photo booth, arts and crafts, an interactive passport activity, raffle giveaways, and a mix of handmade and regular market vendors plus food trucks.

The event is free and open to the public, making it an easy way to experience Lunar New Year traditions right here in Waco.

According to event organizers, the two-day event will feature 100+ food, drink, anime, and retail vendors, along with activities such as a sumo tournament, cosplay contests, voice actor appearances, photo opportunities, and live entertainment. Vendors are expected to offer a variety of Asian street foods and drinks, including Filipino, Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese options, as well as boba tea and more. Some Latin food vendors are also planned.

Admission is listed as free, and attendees are encouraged by organizers to bring cash for purchases.
