Stacey Schneider came up with idea for SpoutTrim after her son was hurt by a sharp downspout edge while playing in the yard. Most residential downspouts end with a raw, unfinished metal edge right at ankle height, and most people walk past them without thinking twice, Schneider notes.

An invention developed by a Waconia woman was launched this spring on HomeDepot.com through its supplier program. It has sold more than 75,000 units.

The study was commissioned in coordination with SouthWest Transit (SWT), the main transportation provider in the county serving primarily the more concentrated eastern portion. Transit Link is the other, providing dial-a-ride connector routes to some rural locations, including Norwood Young America to Waconia.

The Carver County Board of Commissioners approved recommendations from a nearly year-long transit and mobility study advanced last Tuesday, May 19.

The body of a missing swimmer has been recovered from the Minnesota River near Chaska, according to the Carver County Sheriff's Office.

Fireworks are back on in Waconia on the Fourth of July, according to a press release from the Waconia Chamber of Commerce.
