The town is growing fast, and it's getting older too. About 14% of residents are already 65 or older.

Our latest looks at what happened after the town took over the Senior Center and rebranded it to the Wake Forest Center for Active Aging: a rocky first year, a rebuild, an $829,540 budget, and plans for a second building.

- Friday Night on White goes from six events to four in 2027: April, May, September and October. The vote applies to 2027 only.
- The board voted 4-1 to let the Renaissance Center go ahead with its October gallery show featuring Wake Forest Pride. Commissioner Faith Cross voted no.
- The speed limit on part of South Franklin Street in Holding Village drops from 35 to 25 mph.
- Durham Road residents used the capital plan hearing to push back on the Ligon Mill Road extension.
- The board approved the Age-Friendly action plan, a town annexation and transportation plan changes, all without debate.

The Town of Wake Forest issued the following advisory:
Weather permitting, Wake Forest Power will close the portion of South Wingate Street from Durham Road/NC 98/South Avenue to Woodland Drive on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 9-10, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, the Town said. The temporary closure allows tree crews to prune limbs and branches around overhead power lines. Access to the Wake Forest Elementary School parking lot will not be affected, according to the Town.
Signage, cones and flaggers will be in place to direct motorists around the work area, but the Town said delays are expected and drivers may wish to use an alternate route.
Questions may be emailed to Tree Trimming Supervisor Jonathan Anderson. More on Wake Forest Power's year-round trimming work along its 110 miles of overhead lines is available on the Town's Protecting Your Power page.
