Julia is a 24-year-old originally from Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, who relocated to Southern California to pursue a nursing degree and gain access to specialized medical care. In March 2023, at just 21 years old, Julia was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH), a rare cancer most commonly found in children ages 1–4 that causes abnormal growth of Langerhans cells and can lead to tumors and organ damage. In October 2023, a tumor in her thyroid doubled in size, causing difficulty swallowing and significant pressure in her throat. Following a thyroidectomy, Julia learned that her cancer had returned and was diagnosed with Follicular Adenocarcinoma. Then, within the last year, what initially appeared to be an abnormal mole was diagnosed as Melanoma. Doctors also discovered a tumor pressing against her hip, creating additional complications and daily challenges.
Despite facing unimaginable obstacles, Julia continues to meet each day with remarkable strength and faith. She is deeply grateful for her relationship with God and for the incredible support system of family, friends, and loved ones who have stood beside her, encouraging and uplifting her throughout every step of her journey.
Julia is currently receiving hospice and palliative care at home, but she is facing the overwhelming financial burden of her medical expenses completely on her own. As her condition progresses and the pain becomes increasingly difficult to manage, she is often forced to make impossible choices between seeking the care and transportation she needs—whether by ambulance or Uber—and taking on debt she simply cannot afford on her own.
If you are able, please consider making a donation to help Julia access the pain management, medical care, and support services she so desperately needs during this incredibly challenging time. No one should have to choose between their health and financial survival, especially not someone so young who has spent years courageously fighting for her life. Every contribution, no matter the amount, can help ease some of the burden and allow Julia to focus on her comfort at this time💛🎗️
