After 36 consecutive weeks of sharing a different woman’s personal story, Manis with Grannies is taking a break.

We don’t have a new episode for you this week, and we will be taking a hiatus, indefinitely.

It has been a challenge each week to find someone to be on the podcast with me. If you know anyone who would like to be on the podcast, please have them reach out to me so we can schedule their maniview. Once I get a batch of maniviews recorded, I will release them as a “second season” of Manis with Grannies.

I’ll still be posting on socials with more behind-the-scenes photos, personal reflections of the episodes, and updates for future episodes, so keep following along! Thank you for all of your support!

During the recording of each podcast episode of Manis with Grannies, I give the woman I'm interviewing a manicure. The manicure serves several purposes, aside from pampering my guest and making her feel pretty & special, it is a way for me to connect with the person I'm speaking with, who is essentially a stranger at the beginning of each conversation. The expected & welcomed physical touch becomes an "ice-breaker" and creates an intimacy between us. When the conversation gets emotional, I am able to naturally provide comfort because I am already holding their hands in mine.

To my younger followers: If you have older women in your life, I encourage you to offer to give them a manicure, and then truly listen to them during the manicure (because I'm sure they'll say yes when you offer!) ask questions, show interest. The stories you'll hear and the wisdom you'll gain will be well-worth the time spent. And you'll be making someone else feel good, which is really what it's all about!

Listen in on a nice conversation with Elaine. Elaine tells us about her parents and growing up on the family farm. Elaine gives good life advice. She talks about being able to use her Spanish degree throughout her life, even though she was a Spanish teacher for only one semester. Elaine talks about the love in her life, despite never getting married or having children. We also get to hear about Elaine’s musical talents. It’s easy to understand why people gravitate toward Elaine.
