Warwick just got named 3rd safest midsize city in America.

Which honestly makes sense when you consider our biggest daily threat is getting rear-ended by someone attempting an illegal last-second merge into one of the Apponaug rotaries.

Two different national studies now have Warwick near the top of the safest cities list. Not bad for a city where the loudest controversy most weeks is whether the hair found in a meal was from the customer or the Restaurant’s line cook.

On Monday, Bishop Hendricken alum Matt Wilks ran the Boston Marathon with a purpose bigger than a PR.

He took on 26.2 miles in honor of his late friend Andrew Martin, raising funds and awareness for A-T, a rare genetic disease that impacts muscle control and life expectancy.

Andrew was a courageous young man, known for his relentless commitment to his teammates, his friends, and his community, no matter what he was going through.

On Monday, that same energy showed up in the streets of Boston, as Matt crossed the finish line in 2:41:01, finishing in the top 5% of all runners.

The fight to end A-T is far from over, but through Matt’s efforts, Andrew’s story keeps moving forward.

Bronson Venable, 35, a Bishop Hendricken alum, finished the Boston Marathon in 2:21:28, placing inside the top 85 overall.

Coming off the strongest training block of his career, logging 100+ miles per week, Venable entered the race chasing a personal best and a shot at breaking 2:20.

His previous best was 2:26:55 at the 2024 Chicago Marathon.

Today, he crushed it, improving by more than 5 minutes.

He was also competing as part of PUMA’s Project3 program, which offers a $3,000 bonus to sub-elite runners who can drop 3+ minutes off their PR.

Mission accomplished.

That February blizzard is still doing damage.

Rhode Island just approved a shorter school year after districts lost multiple days to the storm.

Instead of making up every snow day, the state is adjusting the requirements.

Which means those snow days weren’t borrowed…

They were gifted.

If you’re that guy or gal who’s been saying “I’m not working here much longer”… and then 7 years went by and you’re still there - now’s your chance to bounce.

General Dynamics Electric Boat is planning to hire around 8,000 workers across RI + CT in 2026 alone, with a big chunk of those roles right here in Rhode Island.

Great news for the job market - better news if you’ve been thinking about your next move. Time to put down the Cheetos and the Xbox controller. Workers needed.
