** THE GRAYLYN ESTATE **
Built in 1932 as the private estate of industrialist Bowman Gray and his wife, Nathalie Gray in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the is a historic boutique hotel, conference center, and event venue. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. They have over 85 guest rooms in the historic Manor House, the Mews, and adjacent cottages. If you have booked a room here, you get complimentary butler service with the famous 24-hour Butler's Pantry stocked with bottomless ice cream, cookies, and snacks. They have fine dining and casual options, plus a historic wine cellar. It was named the # 1 Best Boutique Hotel by USA Today’s Readers’ Choice Awards. It also housed the Germany National Team during the 2026 World Cup.
I only took a walk around the estate to check it out with over 55 acres of land, there’s so much to see here. While I was there, it looked like it was a wedding rehearsal party happening there. I wish I had the resources to stay here, so when I do, I will take full advantage of everything and I’ll give a tour of the estate.

For many budget travelers like myself, I love taking public transportation especially in a city that I don’t know well enough. Public Transportation was created for easy access and transport for many people who need it. It’s a great way to experience life in a city that you don’t know and once you master it, then you are set. So here are 5 reasons why I love taking public transportation.

** ANTHONY’S COAL FIRED PIZZA **
With its first location opened in 2002 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, founder Anthony Bruno of had the goal of bringing traditional New York-style coal-oven pizza to South Florida. Now it has 50 locations in over 6 states. It has been voted as the Nation’s Best Pizza Chain by Newsweek in 2025. After going to their Long Island location, I can taste why. I make it no secret that I love pizza and I love going to different pizzerias in all the places that I travel to. This is one of the best that I’ve been to. They cook the pizza in the coal oven at over 900 degrees that gives this its distinct taste and the chicken wings were fresh, hot, and delicious. I hope you get to go to one that’s close to you or while you are visiting nearby one of their 50 locations.

** AUDI FIELD **
Opened in July 2018, in Washington DC’s Buzzard Point neighborhood in Southeast DC, is a 20,000 seat soccer-specific stadium that doubles as a premium live event venue. The majority of the time they host games for DC United of MLS (), Washington Spirit of NWSL (), DC Defenders of UFL (), and DC Power FC of Gainbridge Superleauge (). It has hosted some of the biggest events in soccer/football including FIFA Club World Cup group stage games, 2023 MLS All Star Game, the 2026 United Bowl, the 2022 NWSL Championship Game and this coming November will be the host of the 2026 version of that game.
I went to three games here since my newfound interest in the “beautiful game”. My record is 0-2-1 right now. I do have several chances for better games throughout the rest of the year. So far, I’ve sat opposite the TV side and I’ve enjoyed it very much. There really isn’t a bad seat in the house. You have a spectacular view of the pitch (field) with a panoramic view of the entire place. Since it’s a soccer-specific stadium, the supporter section is on the north side of the stadium. For the DC Power FC game, they do close down half of the stadium, which is a pretty even crowd for a Wednesday night game. For both DC United & Washington Spirit games, the entire stadium was used and had great attendance.
I will say that if you ever go to a game there, pre-pay for your parking because it is EXPENSIVE! Well, it’s expensive in general, but it costs even more when you pay at the gate. The stadium is not easy to get to via public transportation, be prepared to walk about a mile from either the Waterfront Station or the Navy Yard Metro both are on the green line. For DC Power FC matches, only the northwest gate is open, while all gates are opened for DC United & Spirit games. I hope you all get the chance to see a game here whether it’s this season or next one. I have only been to three soccer-specific stadiums so far, and this was the best one.

Not going to lie, life feels like that sometimes. I know that even though I might be a second option to some, I’m always my own 1st option. Gonna do what’s good for me at the end of the day because I’m the one looking at myself in the mirror.
