In 1995, Round Table Group was established as the world’s first “virtual” consulting firm consisting entirely of Ph.D. and M.D. faculty members from leading academic institutions. The first university professors to be admitted as “Round Table Scholars” hailed from Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, Cornell University, Vanderbilt University, Harvard University, and Stanford University. Within three years, Round Table Group’s consortium of participating Scholars included faculty members from nearly all major universities in the US, the UK, Canada, Hong Kong, and Singapore. In 1996, the firm began admitting highly skilled practitioners in select fields, becoming a consulting/advisory firm of elite talent across numerous fields.
In 1997, Round Table Group began advising elite law firms by locating, vetting and engaging the Round Table Scholars to serve as expert witnesses in complex litigation matters. Soon, Round Table Group was doing business with the entire “AmLaw 200.” The firm also provided customized executive education to leading global companies. The firm’s exploits and achievements have been profiled in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Fortune Magazine, the Chicago Tribune, Crain’s Chicago Business, and in several business case studies published by Stanford University. The firm was also elected to Inc. Magazine’s prestigious list of fast growing private companies an unprecedented six times.
In 2010, Round Table Group was acquired by Thomson Reuters. The following year, we expanded our team and increased our depth and expertise through the acquisition of the Silicon Valley Expert Witness Group, a firm serving the niche intellectual property and patent technology market.
The combined experience and expertise of Round Table Group and Silicon Valley Expert Witness Group, coupled with the data-rich resources and analytical capabilities of Thomson Reuters, enabled us to offer the most comprehensive solutions available for expert witness needs.
In 2019, on the eve of the 25th Anniversary of the firm, Thomson Reuters Expert Witness Services was re-acquired by its original founders, once again becoming the world’s leading privately held consortium of scholars and practitioners serving law firms. 2019 also celebrates the addition of a comprehensive array of artificial intelligence capabilities and numerous partnerships that further enhance our expert search capabilities.
While Round Table Group has earned a certain mystique in the legal and scholarly communities, there is no mystery about how we perform our services: with distinguished professionalism, thorough and rigorous research, and a steadfast commitment to serving justice and ensuring that the best and most qualified expert witnesses take the stand for our clients.
