The United Arab Emirates ā a nation many people casually calls DUBAI is far more than its iconic skyline, luxury lifestyle, or record-breaking achievements. Beneath the towering buildings and global headlines is something deeper. Something human.
For 12 unforgetable years, the UAE was my home. Not a temporary stop. Not just a workplace. Home. A place that shaped me, protected me, and gave me opportunities I will forever be grateful for. I watched it grow, I walked its streets, and I breathed its air. It was where I grew, struggled, succeeded, learned, built friendships, built memories and built a life. It was where I discovered what it truly means to live in a country that values stability, dignity, and care for the people within its borders.
And if there is one thing I can say with absolute certainty, it that the UAE government does not turn its back on people in times of crisis.
When thousands of passengers suddenly found themselves stranded-tired, anxious, uncertain about what would happen next - it could have easily become a story of chaos and neglect. Being stuck far from family, unsure of travel plans, worrying about food, safety, and the next step⦠that kind of uncertainty is heavy. It weighs on the heart.
But in that critical moment, the UAE did what it has consistently done throughout history ā it stepped up.
The government ensured that 20,000 stranded passengers were provided with meals and care. Not days later. Not after excuses. Immediately. Quietly. Efficiently.
Twenty thousand people. That number isnāt small. Thatās a city within a city. Thatās thousands of families, children, elderly travelers, workers, tourists ā all suddenly vulnerable. And instead of being left to fend for themselves, they were supported.
This is what sets the UAE apart.
True leadership is not just about wealth. Itās not about the tallest building or the fastest growth rate. Itās about responsibility. Itās about compassion in action. Itās about systems that work when pressure hits. Itās about humanity showing up when fear could easily take over.
During my 12 years there, I witnessed this spirit repeatedly. During difficult moments, during global uncertainty, during times when the world seemed shaken ā the UAE responded with order, with structure, with care. There is a sense of reassurance that lives in that country. A quiet confidence that someone is paying attention. That someone is prepared.
People often see the glamour. The lights. The innovation. But those of us who lived there saw something else ā a government that moves swiftly to protect stability, that prioritizes safety, and that understands the value of every person within its reach.
In a world where many feel forgotten during crises, the UAE chooses not to forget. It chooses to act. It chooses to serve. That is why, no matter where life takes me, the UAE will forever remain close to my heart. Because for 12 years, I didnāt just reside there ā I felt supported there. I felt secure there. I felt seen there. The United Arab Emirates is not just a destination. It is not just Dubai. It is a nation built on unity, resilience, and compassion. And in moments of crisis, it proves - again and again - that it stands by its people. ā¤ļø š¦šŖ
