RAYFUL EDMOND - (60 MINUTES INTERVIEW)

Rayful Edmond continued to deal after being incarcerated in the Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary, in Pennsylvania. He hooked up with Dixon Dario and Osvaldo "Chiqui" Trujillo-Blanco (son of Griselda "Godmother" Trujillo Blanco) who shared the same cell block with him. Edmond was setting up deals between D.C. area traffickers and his Colombian connect (Dario and Blanco) while incarcerated. In 1996, Edmond and another drug dealer from Atlanta, named Lowe, were convicted after conducting drug business from a federal prison phone. Edmond received an additional 30-year sentence. Edmond's case is one of the most notorious abuses of such phone privileges,[12] and an embarrassment for the Bureau of Prisons. In an interview with the Bureau of Prisons, Edmond said he had spent several hours every day on the telephone, occasionally using two lines simultaneously to conduct his drug business.

Following this conviction, Edmond became a government informant, the reasons for which remain unknown and create speculation to this day. Some speculate it was to secure his mother's release from prison; however, his mother was arrested in the original indictments and spent time in prison and Edmond did not become an informant during this time. Edmond is still incarcerated but is now part of the United States Federal Witness Protection Program and his place of incarceration is confidential.

In 2019, Edmond returned to D.C. for hearings on whether his life sentence should be reduced to time served based on the information he provided to authorities concerning 20 homicides. At the time, a survey by the District of Columbia Attorney General showed that half of D.C. residents thought Edmond should be released.

EPISODE 8 - SEASON FINALE (6IX9INE & DESIREE PEREZ)

🐁 Daniel Hernandez (born May 8, 1996), known professionally as Tekashi 6ix9ine is a rapper, convicted felon an American Rat. Tekashi 6ix9ine was sentenced to two years in prison and five years of supervised release in a Manhattan federal court. Paul Engelmayer, the judge overseeing the case, castigated Tekashi, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, but praised his cooperation with prosecutors. Hernandez pleaded guilty to several crimes related to his involvement with the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods and testified against fellow gang members.

"Your cooperation was courageous," Engelmayer said. "The danger to you is multiplied by your music career, which I understand you intend to continue. The fact that you are unusually recognizable does not help you." Both prosecutors and the attorney representing Hernandez had asked Engelmayer to give the rapper a reduced sentence. He faced up to life in prison for his crimes, with a minimum sentence of 37 years.

In his testimony, Hernandez named several famous people he believed to be part of the Nine Trey gang, including Jim Jones, his former manager Kifano "Shotti" Jordan, and the rapper Mel Matrix. He detailed his beefs with the rappers Casanova, Trippie Redd, and Chief Keef, as well as started another with Cardi B.

🐀 Desiree Perez is an American Rat who was part of a massive cocaine distribution case in 1994. Following her arrest, she became a key government cooperator, going undercover to help the DEA build successful cases against major traffickers in Puerto Rico and Colombia. Cooperation with the feds won her supervised release, but she went on the lam and then served nine months in prison. Perez appears to have been in business with Jay Z since at least 2002, helping the rapper run his 40/40 Club in Las Vegas.

OSCAR BLANDON - "AMERICAN RATS" (LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA)

EPISODE 5 (OSCAR DANILLO BLANDON)

🐁 Oscar Danilo Blandón Reyes (born 1936) is a Nicaraguan born drug trafficker and Rat who is best known as one of the main subjects of the 1996 newspaper series "Dark Alliance" by reporter Gary Webb.

Blandón was originally a director of agricultural markets in Nicaragua during the government of Anastasio Somoza. When the Somoza regime was overthrown in 1979, Blandón fled to the United States, and then raised money for the Nicaraguan Democratic Force (FDN), a Contra group. As part of his fundraising activities Blandón began selling cocaine. Eventually Blandón became a major cocaine trafficker in the Los Angeles area.

In May 1992, Blandón was arrested in San Diego on the federal charge of "conspiracy to possess cocaine with intent to distribute." In prison awaiting trial, Blandón began cooperating with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in a number of drug cases. In a plea agreement, Blandón agreed to continue cooperating with the government in exchange for a substantial sentence reduction. Eventually Blandón was sentenced to 48 months. In order to facilitate Blandón's work as an informant, the government further requested a reduction in Blandón's sentence to time served. Following his imprisonment, Blandón worked for the DEA as a confidential informant. He worked for the DEA to take down drug kingpin Rick Ross in a sting operation, for which Ross was convicted in 1997.

EPISODE 7 (FLORES BROTHERS)
🐁🐁 Flores and twin, Margarito are Mexican-American Rats who netted $227 million for El Chapo’s Sinaloa Cartel. Not only were Pedro and Margarito Flores allowed to sell tons of cocaine and heroin while in government employ, upon their return from Mexico after a several year absence from Chicago, the twins orchestrated a massive reverse sting on their drug customers, mostly hailing from cities like Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Cleveland, and Detroit. Phone calls were made to let various junior varsity kingpins around the country that “The Twins” were back in business. Enticing deals were offered- bring enough money for 10 keys and we’ll give you another 40 on consignment, offers no sane drug dealer could refuse. Of course, when the various dealers showed up to the deals in parking lots and side-streets around Chicago, Federal agents were waiting to pounce.

Many of the dealers being set-up by the Flores twins ended up with longer prison terms than the brothers themselves, despite the fact that they would have had no dope to sell without the government facilitating the Flores’ operation, a deep injustice if there ever was one. And on top of that, the brothers were likely still doing deals off-the-record to make money for themselves.

At least one shipment — a 276-kilogram load of heroin- made it to Chicago and was distributed on the streets…the Feds claimed they didn’t know anything about it when the story came out during later court proceedings. The brothers claimed they needed the cash to keep the Cartel happy so they could keep working as secret agents.

The key domino that fell thanks to the Flores brothers’ work in Mexico was that of Vicente Zambada-Niebla. Zambada-Niebla was the highest ranking executive of the Sinaloa cartel in US custody until “El Chapo” Guzman’s arrest in 2014 , and his father, known as “El Mayo” is now considered the most powerful single narco-trafficker in Mexico since “El Chapo’s” arrest. During their undercover work, the Flores twins had secretly tape recorded Vicente in Mexico orchestrating the delivery of huge drug shipments, and Zambada-Niebla was indicted. When he was captured and brought to Chicago, “El Mayo’s” son claimed he was immune from prosecution because he, too had been working for the D.E.A., providing intelligence reports on rival cartels in exchange for the FBI and DEA allowing “tons of illicit drugs continued to be smuggled into Chicago and other parts of the United States.” Quite a shocking defense, and, frankly, a very believable one, considering the evidence of the Federal overnments complicity in the Flores brothers drug operation.

They worked as a team, and were often simply referred to as “the twins.” They claimed to have turned themselves in because a war had broken out between the Sinaloa Cartel and its rivals, and they feared for their family’s life. It wasn’t the first time, Margarito testified, recounting how he’d been kidnapped in 2004. “I thought I was going to die,” he said of the harrowing experience, during which he was stripped, starved and blindfolded while locked in a cell for 16 days. He was dumped in the desert after his brother Pedro intervened, and forced to walk miles in the dark as wild cats screamed around him.

Flores first met Chapo soon after in May 2005, he testified, after a plane ride to the mountains and a bumpy ride up a long driveway — where he saw a naked man chained to a tree “looking down at us.” The runty kingpin wasn’t particularly impressed with Flores, he recalled, saying Chapo immediately mocked his jean shorts and jewelry.

“With all that money, couldn’t I afford the rest of the pants?” the witness said the drug lord asked, prompting laughs from jurors. Chapo also took aim at the chain around his neck, saying the “only thing that was missing is a dress.” During the meeting, they discussed his kidnapping, and Chapo allegedly offered to lure out his kidnapper. But only, Flores testified, if he agreed to “shoot him once in each eye.” Flores declined.

Before joining with Chapo, Flores ran cocaine, heroin and meth across Chicago and into other major metropolises, including Washington, DC, and Minneapolis. The twins became the prosecutors star witnesses in El Chapo's trial.

Guzmán was found guilty of all counts on 12 February 2019, and was sentenced on 17 July 2019 to life in prison plus 30 years and ordered to forfeit more than $12.6 billion. He is now serving his sentence at ADX Florence, the nation's most secure supermax prison under Federal Register Number 89914-053.

Pedro and Margarito Flores are now in the Federal Witness protection program, their immediate family members were given new identities and $300,000 to pay for living expenses.
