Make sure the kids are good and safe and go out or stay in but just make sure you’re living as well…

Let the human in you experience love for the remaining months left in this year!

To every mom out there, I hope you know that being miserable doesn’t make you a better mom…

You’re human and deserve to have the best out of life🤍

POV: Things that are harder as a mom when your village lives far away

1. When you’re sick but still have to mother.
There’s no mum, sister or auntie to say, “Give me the kids. Go and rest.”

2. When you need a babysitter for just 2 hours.
Not because you have somewhere fancy to go… sometimes you just need to breathe. 😭

3. When you have an emergency.
A sick child, unexpected appointment, or last minute situation and suddenly you’re trying to figure everything out alone.

4. When both parents need to be somewhere at the same time.
No auntie to call. No grandma to drop the kids with. Just… “Okay, how are we going to make this work?” 😂

5. When you need help after having a baby.
Back home, someone might come over, cook, hold the baby and let you shower.
Here, you may have to do it all while recovering.

6. When you just need someone to talk to.
Sometimes you don’t need advice.
You just need your mum, sister or friend sitting beside you saying, “I understand.”

7. When your child has a school event.
And you realize there’s no grandma, aunty or cousin nearby to come and cheer them on.

8. When you need help during the holidays.
School is closed. Daycare is closed. Your work isn’t.
And you’re wondering who is going to watch the kids. 😩

9. When you’re overwhelmed.
There are days when you don’t need a solution.
You just need someone to take the children for a little while.

10. Watching your children grow up far from their grandparents.

You’re grateful for the life you’re building, but sometimes you wish your parents could experience these little moments with you.

They say it takes a village to raise a child…
but nobody tells you how hard it is when your village is an ocean away.

POV: You became a mom of 2 and suddenly realized… some things just aren’t worth the stress anymore. 😂

I stopped caring about:
- Having a perfectly clean house all day
- What people think about my parenting choices
- Making every meal from scratch
- Looking put together every single day
- Saying yes when I really want to say no
- Keeping up with everyone else’s timeline
- Hosting people when I’m already exhausted
- Having everything figured out
- Being the “perfect” mom
- Explaining every decision I make as a mother

Because motherhood taught me something I wish I learned earlier: Peace is more important than perfection.

My kids don’t need a perfect mother. They need a present one. 🤍

And honestly? If the house is a little messy, the laundry is waiting and dinner is something quick… we’ll survive. 😂

Mom of 2, choosing her battles wisely. 🤍

Moving and becoming the new person far away from home can feel daunting and overwhelming and that’s why you don’t have to do it all by yourself…

Here are a few things I wish someone told me before I moved to America and I decided to share with you so you don’t have to be me all over again…

For my fellow immigrants, what’s one thing you wish you knew before moving from home?

Being a SAHM abroad can almost always mean a one man do all especially for the mornings but I always make sure I never let myself go completely, I still find ways to remind myself that I matter even in the simplest ways..
This can be ensuring I get my morning reps in and of course with my seamoss electrolyte and also keeping myself more active and alert with the amazing coffee.

Life as a mom in the diaspora can be hard but it doesn’t have to be always self consuming…
