Marjuan Canady is a multi-talented creative, producer, and entrepreneur based in DC. She is know for her performances and contributions to shows like Hell’s Kitchen, The Wiz, and Death of a Salesman.

Canady runs her own production company, Sepia Works, and non-profit, Canady Foundation for the Arts. She uses her experience in theatre, film, television, children’s media, and literature in order to provide artistic opportunities for people and children of color.

If you’re still on the lookout for events to celebrate Independence Day in DC this July, then check out these events that may suit you!

The DC Comedy Clubhouse and Chris Harrison will be hosting a Fourth of July comedy Jam from 7pm until 8:30pm this Friday! The event will feature special guest comedians, drink specials, food, ho**ah, a live DJ and an after party. To get the full experience, you can purchase your ticket on Eventbrite for just $23.18. You wouldn’t want to miss it!

If you’re looking for the fun party vibes with a view, then check out the Crimson Whiskey Bar’s Fourth of July Rooftop Party! The sky-high event will include endless food, drink specials, a live DJ, and a fireworks show under the stars. If you’re looking for some things to do in DC today, check out these three events celebrating Juneteenth and Black freedom.

Bryant Street Market will be hosting a Juneteenth Wellness Block Party from 10am-4pm. The events entry is free and open to the Public!

Creative Saints Loft will be hosting the UnPhramed Vision Juneteenth Art Event today, from 2pm-6:30pm. General Admission is $5.04, but kids under 12 can attend for free!

Mix + Mingle Coffee Lounge will be hosting a Juneteenth Paint and Sip Paint Party today from 4pm-6:30pm. The event is restricted to individuals 18 and older. It costs $60.54 which includes painting supplies, guidance, a Juneteenth playlist with good vibes and photo ops!

June 14th marks the US Grand Army’s 250th birthday! To celebrate, the army will be holding an anniversary parade where you can meet soldiers, learn about the history of the army and honor their legacy.

The event will be held at the National Mall in DC on Saturday, June 14th.

From a block party to WorldPride—

In 1975, Deacon Maccubbin organized D.C.’s first Gay Pride Day, laying the foundation for what would become one of the nation’s most vibrant LGBTQ+ celebrations.

As founder of Lambda Rising, the city’s first LGBTQ+ bookstore, he created a space for learning, connection, and community.

Now, D.C. Pride draws hundreds of thousands each year—and in 2025, Maccubbin and his husband Jim Bennett were honored as grand marshals of the WorldPride Parade, 50 years later.

This is more than a celebration—it’s history, legacy, and a continued fight for equality. 🏳️‍🌈

Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” has garnered a lot of attention, most notably from his own political partner, Elon Musk.

Musk, owner of Tesla and X (formerly known as Twitter), went on a series of rants discussing his distaste for the bill Trump plans to enact.

Musk claims that the bill will only push the United States further into debt.

His comments even disclosed information, such as Trump’s alleged connection with Epstein’s island.

Get ready to see the prominent Army-Navy football rivalry in Washington D.C.

The 134 year old tradition between The Black Knights (Army) and the Midshipmen (Navy) will continue at the Northwest Stadium.

Last year's game happened in Foxborough, Massachusetts, with a Black Knights victory.

This year’s football game is on Dec. 14.
