I want to thank everyone who reached out to offer condolences or assistance after the passing of my mother. I especially want to thank my HBCU cousins, Kimberly Drake Orebeaux and Nick Harrison. Kim checked in on me EVERRRRY day even the day of her firstborn's graduation when she could have easily been too absorbed in the day's celebration. Nick had no clue but his TikTok lives kept my spirts up while my mom was in the hospital and have been getting me throught the sleepless nights since her passing. SiriusXM you need this man on your team. I'm not gonna suggest stations because he would be a good fit on many. He brings joy to so many and his music taste and knowledge is extensive.

Again, thanks to everyone but these two ❣️💞🖤🤎🖤❤️💕

If the relationship you are in is harmful to you, understand staying for things like "the sake of the children" is making THEM personally responsible for your decision to prioritize your toxic romantic impulses over not only your own health but theirs. Once you have the AH-HA moment that remaining in a toxic or unhappy relationship causes stress illnesses for anyone exposed, making the choice to part amicably (whether your spouse is amicable with your choice to depart or not) that much easier. Honoring a marital bond only works until such a point that one person chooses to break the social compact. If your partner is abusive, Cluster B, nurtured to equate trauma bonding rituals with love, or they are neurologically incapable of having a healthy relationship (due to medical issues or a TBI for example), let the relationship go gracefully. The only true failure is in STAYING.

"Recognized as the hallmark of extended matriculation for Black Americans, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are a source of achievement, pride, and pivotal impact for all Americans. CDC is committed to improving outreach to HBCUs to highlight our agency’s programs, fellowships, and initiatives, so that we remain a pinnacle in public health. The talent afforded specifically from HBCU graduates in our workforce is imperative to ensuring health equity in our science and interventions.

Join us on November 9th for a special event for HBCU students and recent graduates to engage with HBCU alumni leaders at CDC in our event: Noted. Building on the Legacy of HBCUs in Public Health. As the premier public health agency in the federal government, CDC offers unique opportunities to pursue public service and address the nation’s most pressing issues affecting communities across the country. Attendees will hear from HBCU alumni leaders at CDC about their own experiences within the fellowship programs and their professional paths. Fellowship representatives will also provide an overview of their respective programs, key considerations for applying, and the importance of having HBCU students and alumni within the CDC workforce.

Check back often for agenda and speaker updates."
