First Reading (Ezekiel 33:7-9): God appoints the prophet as watchman for the house of Israel — called to warn both wicked and righteous, because love does not stay silent in the face of harm.
Second Reading (Romans 13:8-10): “Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another.” All commandments are summed up in loving our neighbor as ourselves; love is the fulfillment of the law.
Gospel (Matthew 18:15-20): Christ lays out the gentle, escalating process of fraternal correction — first alone, then with witnesses, then with the Church — so that the brother who has wronged us might be won back.
Liturgical Connection: Worshiping together, we confess together that we are not our own gods; from that first principle flows the right to life, the right to a life in Christ, and the duty to love each other into that encounter. The Mass is the only source on earth where people are continually sent into the world with Christ in them.
Key Message: If God did not want to heal the world, there would not be a Catholic Mass. The liturgy is forming a people whose love is a watchman, a fraternal corrector, and a healer all at once. Be in the world what you have received through the liturgy.
