A Guide to True Parental Kindness"
Sons fall into five categories:
1. The Disobedient Sons: These are sons who do not obey their parents' commands, making them considered disobedient.
2. The Reluctant Sons: These sons follow their parents' commands but do so grudgingly and with reluctance. They miss out on any rewards.
3.The Complaining Sons: These sons obey their parents' commands but do so while grumbling, complaining, and showing their displeasure. Even though they fulfill their duties, they are still at a loss and accumulate sins.
4.The Appreciative Sons: These sons do what their parents ask with a willing heart and earn rewards. Such sons are rare.
5.The Ideal Sons: These sons anticipate their parents' needs and fulfill them even before being asked. They are the rarest and most fortunate sons.
As for the last two categories of sons, they enjoy blessings in their lifespan, abundance in sustenance, ease in their affairs, and peace and comfort in their hearts. Such conditions are due to Allah’s exclusive mercy, as He bestows His grace upon whom He wills.
A small question for everyone reading this: What type of son do you think you are from the categories mentioned above?
(Before you rush to kiss your mother’s forehead), ask yourself what "kindness" or good treatment towards parents truly means.
Kindness is not merely kissing your mother or father’s forehead, hands, or feet. Don’t be under the illusion that you have achieved their pleasure by just doing this.
Kindness means sensing their unspoken desires and fulfilling them without waiting for a command. It means being aware of what brings them joy and acting on it promptly, and also understanding what causes them pain and ensuring they never experience it from you.
Kindness involves feeling their presence, making time for them, and attending to their needs, even if it’s just a cup of tea. It also means considering their comfort, even if it means sacrificing your own, such as adjusting your sleep schedule if they are disturbed by your late nights.
Kindness might also involve forgoing social gatherings if it means compromising time with them. Making arrangements for a meal at a decent restaurant or ensuring their comfort during pilgrimage, or even planning small joys and outings that bring them happiness, are all forms of kindness.
Furthermore, kindness involves sharing your resources with them, regardless of their financial status. Spend on them without worrying about how much they have or need.
Finally, kindness means striving to bring smiles to their faces, even if you seem foolish to yourself.
**In conclusion:** Being good to your parents is not about dividing duties among siblings; it’s a race towards the gates of paradise. Remember, many paths lead to paradise, and several of them pass through the service of your parents.
