🌎 Right now, Earth is about 1.2ºC warmer than it was in the late 1800s. The Paris Agreement, signed in 2015, aims to limit warming to 1.5ºC.

🌡️ To achieve this, countries around the world must cut their emissions. By 2030, emissions would need to be at least 43% lower than 2019 levels. By 2050, we would need to reach net zero emissions.

❌ Based on current national action plans, emissions are projected to be 2.6% lower than 2019 levels by 2030––a far cry from the 43% reduction needed to keep the planet to 1.5ºC warming.

⏱️ The time is now. We need to step up, because there is no Planet B!

🦉 When it comes to social media, playing It safe isn’t a strategy

We don’t have a fun mascot, although the 🦊 has been making appearances in our posts over the past few years, but we certainly tuned in to listen to Rachel Karten’s recent interview with Parvez, the social media expert who helped shape Duolingo’s wildly successful social media presence.

There were many nuggets of wisdom in there, but “Don’t be a coward. Don’t conform,” certainly rang a bell with us.

Duolingo didn’t find success by blending in. They leaned into bold, sometimes risky creative choices, and in doing so, transformed an education app into a cultural phenomenon.

Zaria also emphasized that it doesn’t take a massive team or endless resources to make an impact. What matters is having a scrappy, committed team that believes in the long-term vision and the courage to stick to it even when the safer path seems tempting.
