I’m opening up about my recent bipolar diagnosis, the years before getting the help I needed, and what starting treatment means for me.

I’m not cold. I’m just more careful about who gets access to me.

I’ve learned that love doesn’t require control, guilt, manipulation, or constantly proving your loyalty. And setting boundaries doesn’t mean I stopped caring—it means I finally started caring about myself too.

Some people only call you “different” because the version of you they benefited from is no longer available.

I can love you and still choose distance.
I can forgive you and still protect my peace.
I can wish you well and still say, “You don’t get access to me like that anymore.”

This season is about healthier relationships, stronger boundaries, and no longer confusing control with love.

My new blog post, “The Diagnosis Does Not Determine the Destination,” is now up on Thee Destiny Denise.

This piece is deeply personal. I’m sharing part of my journey with mental health, receiving my diagnosis, starting treatment, and learning that a diagnosis may explain part of the story — but it does not get to decide my future.

Some days I’m in **Soft CEO Mode** — focused, organized, making moves, and ready to build the life I keep talking about.

Some days I’m in **Cozy Creative Mode** — hoodie on, laptop open, 17 tabs going, and somehow another idea just entered the group chat.

And some days? I’m fully in **Best-ish Mode** — doing what I have capacity for, protecting my peace, and reminding myself that rest does not cancel progress.

The biggest lesson I’m learning is that I don’t have to be the same version of myself every single day to still be moving forward.

**Productive me is still me.
Creative me is still me.
Resting me is still me.**

Same woman. Different operating systems. And all three deserve grace. 🤎

I’ve spent a lot of my life trying to figure out which version of me I should trust more…

The one who feels everything
or the one who thinks about everything.

My heart wants to believe, create, love, forgive, dream, and move when something simply feels right.

My mind wants the plan, the proof, the backup plan, the exit strategy… and approximately 17 contingency plans just in case. 😩

For a long time, I thought one of them had to win.

I’m learning differently now.

My softness doesn’t make me naïve.
My overthinking doesn’t make me incapable.
My emotions aren’t the enemy.
And protecting myself doesn’t mean I have to build a wall around everything I love.

Maybe healing isn’t choosing between your heart and your mind.

Maybe it’s teaching them how to sit at the same table.

Because the woman I’m becoming needs both:

A heart brave enough to believe again.
And a mind wise enough to recognize what deserves access to her.

I’m not choosing between the soft version of me and the strong version anymore.

They’re both me.

And for once, I’m learning how to let them work together instead of constantly trying to survive each other.

I owe y’all a little honesty. 🤎

I know I haven’t been as consistent as I said I would be, and for that, I apologize.

The truth is, I’ve been dealing with some things behind the scenes that challenged me mentally, emotionally, and personally. And somewhere along the way, instead of allowing you all to walk through the journey with me, **I started running from it. I got quiet. I pulled back.**

But I’ve realized something…

I don’t have to wait until everything is perfect to show up.

I don’t have to have every answer before I share the journey.

And I don’t have to disappear while I’m becoming.

So I’ve made a decision: **I’m done running.**

I’m letting you all back in—not just for the polished moments, but for the rebuilding, the lessons, the uncomfortable conversations, the healing, the wins, the setbacks, and everything that comes with becoming the woman I’m meant to be.

This next chapter of **Thee Destiny Denise** is going to look a little different.

More honest.
More intentional.
More consistent.
More ME.
