We are LOVING, we are GROWING…

A Message from the Organizers

A most incredible gift we can give to our kids - the chance to discover a key aspect of who they are. It is truly a selfless gesture and is indeed the wiser choice to keep our children connected and aware of their rich cultural heritage

We are delighted to bring you the Heritage and Culture Camp, a unique camp that is the ONLY Ethiopian camp dedicated to bringing together ALL families raising Ethiopian-American children. Our camp is a 4 day/3 night fun filled, family getaway that provides an authentic cultural atmosphere and numerous educational opportunities for both kids and their parents. While the classes and activities are great reasons to attend the camp, the sense of community it provides to our first-generation Ethiopian kids is priceless. For many kids it is the only opportunity they have each year to really immerse themselves in their heritage, learn about their culture and language, and explore their feelings in a supportive community. Seeing the kids having fun, learning, enjoying being themselves, and not worrying about fitting-in is a reward unto itself!! Our goal for the camp is to help us raise confident, well adjusted, Ethiopian-American children - some may say our goals are lofty, but our kids deserve nothing less. During the course of organizing and conducting previous years' camps, we met and got to know a great many families and individuals dedicated and committed to the well being of Ethiopian-American children. We very much enjoyed meeting and getting to know all the families who participated in previous Camps. We are looking forward to seeing all of you again and for the opportunity to renew friendships each year. We also look forward to warmly welcoming and getting to know families who are joining us for the first time. Finally, the organizers of The Heritage and Culture Camp want to acknowledge the feedback and the encouragement we have received. It means the world to us, as we strive to bring you an event of the highest quality.

📚 Help 320 Students Start the School Year with Confidence 💚

At Heritage & Culture Camp, community service has always been an important part of our journey. This year, we’re inviting our entire H&CC family to help provide school uniforms for 320 students at Degagogot Abshiro Foregoto Memorial School in rural Ethiopia.

A school uniform is more than clothing. It gives students confidence, dignity, and a sense of belonging, helping them begin the school year ready to learn. 🤍

We’ve already made progress, but there’s still more to do. Take a look at the update in the next image to see where we are so far and how many students still need our support.

Choose your impact:

👟 Complete Uniform Package – $50
Includes a complete school uniform plus two pairs of shoes.

👕 Basic Uniform Package – $30
Includes a sweater, shirt, and trousers or dress.

Every contribution, whether you sponsor one student or several students, helps us get closer to providing uniforms for all 320 students.

320 students. One community. Endless impact. 🧡💚

A legacy that continues! 🧡

In 1993, Abshiro Foregoto built the first school in his rural community because he believed the children of Degagogot deserved the opportunity to learn close to home. Today, Degagogot Abshiro Foregoto Memorial School serves students from Kindergarten through Grade 8. During the 2025/2026 school year, 288 students attended the school, supported by 10 dedicated teachers. And every Grade 6 and Grade 8 student passed their national exams!

So our goal has grown! We’re now working to provide uniforms and shoes for 320 students at Degagogot Abshiro Foregoto Memorial School. As we’ve learned more about the school’s needs, we realized we could help even more students.

With your support, we can help these students start the school year feeling prepared, confident, and proud.💚🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

Getting our hands dirty! 💚🧡🤎👐🏾

One of the fun parts of CampVenture Africa was getting to try something completely different working with clay alongside local artisans and making our own pieces.

Everyone got creative in their own way, and the best part was simply enjoying the process, learning something new, and having fun with it.

A morning of creativity, culture, and lots of clay!
