Nintendo unveiled details about its hotly anticipated Switch 2 console the same day President Donald Trump outlined his plan to implement global reciprocal tariffs.

A lot happened between those announcements and the June 5 launch of the console, which has already sold 3.5 million units (and counting), per the game industry giant.

But with Trump's pause of country-specific reciprocal tariffs nearing its expiration date, Nintendo will now face a challenging peak season as it gets set to meet holiday demand.

The video game console maker will have to navigate the all-important peak season as reciprocal duties from the Trump administration are slated to return.
