Institutional Strengthening Learning and Sharing Forum organized by Palladium Nigeria and funded by USAID, which took place at Meloch Hotel, Awka Anambra State between 23 and 24 May 2024.

Dr. ThankGod Okosun was the facilitator along with Mrs Queenth. We brainstormed, worked and reviewed our organisation's system, strategy, and structure for the best service delivery in alignment with the international standards.

El-New Hope Foundation was part of the participants represented by our Founder and Board Secretary, Mr El-dad Monu.

We are looking forward to the positive impacts.

The objective was to work on our advocacy self assessment, policy tracker, policy economy analysis (PEA), and also to develop a next plan of our advocacy in our target states for the wellbeing and benefits of people with disabilities (PWDs).

GESI AND CONFLICT SENSITIVITY TRAINING

Our Director General Mrs Chidinnma Eyinnaya was part of the participants attending a 3-Day GESI and
Conflict Sensitivity Training in Abuja between 5th and 8th September, 2023.

The training was part of achieving the USAID's Nigeria SCALE for CSOs across the country to promote equality, peace and diversity.

We hope to do more to serve humanity effectively.

Cluster Coaching organised by Advocacy for Disability Acts Cluster (ADAC) sponsored by USAID and implemented by Palladium was eventful and productive where we came to Abuja to discuss the way forward for the implementation of Disability Law within out target States (Abia, Adamawa, Gombe and Taraba).

EHF a member of ACAC was well represented by Mr Monu El-dad.

We are working tirelessly to achieve our targets for the well-being and benefits of our People with Disabilities in the coming days and weeks.

ABUJA: RIGHTS BASED APPROACH CAPACITY BUILDING ACTIVITY FOR PWDs ON THE PWD ACT.

The meeting held in Abuja With Support From the USAID, implemented by Palladium and organized by PWDs Cluster anchor IFA is yielding fruitful resulst.

Abia delegates were led by the Pioneer Capacity Chairman of Abia State Disability Commission, El-Dad Monu.

More activities and engagements in the coming days.

We will continue to work in implementing our Disability Act towards achieving economic, social, political and cultural visions. The takeaways from this meeting will also help the newly established Abia State Disability Commission in performing excellently for the interests, rights and wellbeing of people with disabilities and their families in all ramifications.

DAY ONE: WORKSHOP ON SENSITIVE REPORTING OF SEXUAL AND GENDER BASED VIOLENCE (SGBV) AND CHILD EARLY AND FORCED MARRIED (CEFM).

Today we had our first day of our Workshop on Sensitive Reporting of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) and Child Early and Forced Married (CEFM) in Abuja organized by Nigeria' Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement (SCALE) implemented by Palladium sponsored by USAID.

We the CSOs, Media teams, and Government represents have a wonderful time spending today examining and analyzing on the SGBV and CEFM issues in our country Nigeria. Our Foundation was well represented by Mr Monu El-dad.

We understood and believed that the issues that make SGBV popular in our context are:

1. Poverty
2. Poor mindset
3. Cultural belief
4. Lack of education (illiteracy)
5. Vulnerability of people with disabilities
6. Stigmatization
7. Fear of perpetrator
8. Lack of awareness about existing laws
9. Slow and unjust judiciary
10. Communication barrier
11. Promotion of culture of silence
12. Religious belief

However there is need for us to mitigate the SGBV challenges through:

1. Empowerment of vulnerable groups (women/youth)
2. Creating public awareness
3. Implementation of VAPP, GBV, Disability Law
4. Improve access to reporting channel
5. Training of desk officer on SGBV for efficient and effective actions
6. Priority right and access to fair justice
7. Accessibility to reporting/judicial structure
8. Sensitization on speaking out

We look forward to making our advocacy more efficiently. Let us work together to change the story by giving voice to the voiceless and help the helpless on our society without being compromised.
