⚠️ TRIGGER WARNING: This post discusses homicide, violence, and an unsolved murder case.

🚨 UNSOLVED. UNFORGOTTEN.

Katherine "Katie" Janness was a beloved partner, friend, and member of Atlanta's LGBTQ+ community.

On July 28, 2021, Katie and her dog Bowie were found murdered in Piedmont Park, one of Atlanta's most popular public spaces.

Nearly four years later, no arrests have been made.

According to investigators, Katie suffered more than 50 stab wounds. Authorities also revealed that the word "FAT" had been carved into her chest.

The brutality of the attack shocked the community and led many to question whether bias may have played a role. However, investigators have never publicly classified the case as a hate crime.

Despite the disturbing nature of the crime, Katie's case has received far less national attention than many believe it deserves.

Today, the case remains active.

💰 The reward for information has increased to $25,000.

If you have information, contact the Atlanta Police Homicide Unit at (404) 546-4235 or Crime Stoppers Atlanta at (404) 577-TIPS.

🚨 UNPOPULAR PRIDE MONTH OPINION:

If you only show up for the community in June...Do you really support the community?

Every year, timelines fill with rainbows. Everyone talks about pride. Everyone posts about visibility + support

But what happens in July? What happens when LGBTQ+ businesses need customers? When LGBTQ+ creators need engagement? When LGBTQ+ stories need to be shared? When LGBTQ+ organizations need support?

Some of y'all are real quick to DM and ask to help promote an event by sharing, tagging or mentioning, but don't return the favor. Where is the reciprocity?

Community isn't seasonal.Community is consistency. Community is showing up and taking action. Community isn't selective. Community isn't competition.

***an, we don't just celebrate Pride Month.

We celebrate the people, stories, culture, and trailblazers who make this community what it is 365 days a year.

Because support isn't a hashtag.

Practice what you preach‼️

👇🏾 Let's talk about it:

What does real support for the LGBTQ+ community look like beyond Pride Month?

🏳️‍🌈 Save this post if you believe community deserves more than 30 days.

📲 Share it with someone who needs the reminder.

❤️ Follow ***an for LGBTQ+ stories, style, culture, and community all year long.

Happy Pride Month🏳️‍🌈😤. Love Y'all Muah. 💋

WAIT—this is who you should know this Le***an Visibility Week. 🌈 We celebrate🎊🎉🥂🤏🏾

Candice “CJ” Johnson is a filmmaker, producer, actress, and creative who has built her path from the ground up—learning every side of the industry and turning that experience into something bigger than herself.

She went on to create ***an as a space for real stories—centering le***an voices, stories, culture and everyday experiences that don’t always get the visibility they deserve.

Not for trends. Not for approval.
But because those stories matter.

CJ’s work is rooted in authenticity highlighting people as they are, and creating space for more of us to be seen. Be Known.

This Le***an Visibility Week, we’re honoring the multi-hyphenate woman behind it all—her vision, her consistency, and the impact she continues to make.
