Malak Bontzolakes pulled a groin muscle in the 1st Quarter and rolled his ankle in Quarter 2 and had a calf cramp in Quarter 4 to which he had to push through for the victory due to two other key players being fouled out in 3rd and 4th Quarter. He was face guarded 90% of the game due to the last match up with Kipp Collegiate team witnessing him earn 35 of the 60 points when they played Kipp on January 15th. That game ended 60-40, which means Malak scored 5 points shy of that teams' total points. Malak was fouled numerous times in this game, including his 2 of his 4 attempts behind the arc where 2 of were made and 2 brought him to the line to pick up 5 of the 6 shots.
Other notable things to mention, Malak shoot 50% from behind the arc, 82% from the free throw line, led in rebounds with 8, led in steals with 3 and tied for assists with his senior team mate Aaron Lowman with 3.
this was an overall well-rounded attempt from Malak that we have only seen a harmful of times. We hope that this final run in the season, we will continue to see him adjust to be this player when shots are not falling because of heavy defense, making his 2 point attempts a challenge.
side note: The team had not played or practiced since January 22nd. The un followed the unexpected extended snowstorm on January 24 that led to online school and after-school program cancelation. This win means a lot! bringing FCA to 13-6 (Non-League) and 5-1 (League 3-1-2). Due to numerous canceled games and the team needed to reschedule because of the weather. FCA has to make up 2 League games before playoff rounds begin. Schedule on max prep may not be correct!
