Degrees of glory, divine superpowers, and ghost stories? Welcome to the Mormon afterlife. In our Season 1 finale, we dive into everything we were taught about what comes next—spirit paradise vs. spirit prison, the celestial hierarchy of heaven, and the ultimate promise of becoming Gods and Goddesses.

We mix in car accidents, spooky encounters, and the strange comfort (and fear) these doctrines gave us—including the chilling idea that we’d literally rise from our graves at the Second Coming. From polytheism to eternal families, we peel back the layers and laugh at the surreal, sometimes terrifying, picture it painted.

It’s weird, it’s wild, it’s spooky, and it’s the perfect way to close out Season 1.

I can't believe we're almost done with Season 1! 🥺

Ep. 5 - "Well Oiled Machine"
We start this episode the way many Mormons did on Sundays: with a “calling.” Except this time, Amy plays Bishop and pretends to give Benji one—so our listeners get a taste of how it really goes down.That sets the stage for a deeper dive into the machine-like structure of the church: personal callings you can’t refuse, the pressure of preparing talks, fasting like it was a competition, and missionaries who couldn’t touch the opposite gender beyond a stiff handshake.

Each gear—whether “spiritual gifts,” endless volunteer labor, or obedience framed as holiness—was designed to keep the machine running smoothly. But once you see the mechanics behind the curtain, it’s hard not to notice the grinding, the strain, and the ways it wears people down.
