Voices of Today narrator Gregory Dwyer continues his series of classic Australian literature with the release of the Last of the Bushrangers. These colourful villains were the outlaws who were active in the Nineteenth Century, the last being Ned Kelly, a charismatic ruffian who has become something of a folk hero in more recent times. Kelly was captured in a dramatic siege at the Glenrowan Hotel, about 140 miles north of Melbourne, and was hanged at the Old Melbourne Gaol in November, 1880. During the battle he wore a suit of home-made armour, creating an image which was later used as the basis for a famous series of paintings by Sidney Nolan. This account was written by Francis Hare, the police officer in charge of the operation to capture Kelly and destroy his gang.
