What you’re seeing on the left is our home today… and on the right is what scientists predict 5 billion years from now when the Sun becomes a red giant.

The Sun is powered by nuclear fusion, turning hydrogen into helium. Over billions of years, it will run out of hydrogen fuel in its core. When that happens, the core contracts and heats up, causing the outer layers to expand massively. As it swells and cools, the Sun will glow red — becoming a red giant, potentially engulfing Mercury, Venus, and even Earth.

Time changes everything… even stars. Would humanity be watching this from another solar system?
