Dear Mama

Dear Mama Dear Mama

For the moments you feel unseen. I will always remind you - in all the small, quiet ways, your love is felt, and you are enough. Love,
Maya

Have you ever opened a bill and felt your whole body tighten?
That moment where the fear just takes over β€” what if I lose my job, what if I can't provide, what if I'm not enough?
I live in that fear more than I admit.
But I've learned I can't carry all of it at once. I can only take one step. Just one. Today's step.
And somehow β€” that's always been enough.
If you're in that fear right now, you're not failing. You're carrying something heavy and you're still showing up.
That's not nothing. That's everything. πŸ’›
Save this for the moment the fear comes back. And if this is someone you know β€” tag her. She needs to hear it too.

Nobody told me love was supposed to be free.
I thought you worked for it. I thought you were good enough for it, quiet enough for it, small enough for it. I thought love was something that happened to you when you finally got it right.
I was a child. I should never have had to think that.
So when I became a mother β€” I made myself one promise.
She will never have to earn it. Not from me. Not ever.
She is loved when she is joyful and she is loved when she falls apart. She is loved when she gets it right and she is loved when she gets it completely wrong. She is loved because she exists. Because she is mine. Because that is what love actually is β€” when nobody taught you that β€” and you had to choose it for yourself anyway.
Breaking a cycle nobody prepared you for β€” with no map, no example, no blueprint β€” is the hardest and most quietly heroic thing a mother can do.
You will not always get the credit. Most days nobody will even see it.
But your child will feel it. Every single day. In their bones. In who they become.
And one day β€” they will know.

She will never have to earn my love.
I grew up having to. Good grades. Good behaviour. Being quiet enough, small enough, enough enough. And even then β€” it never felt like it was just… given.
So I made a decision.
Every single day β€” no matter what is happening, no matter how hard things are β€” my daughter hears that she is loved. She feels it. She knows it in her bones.
She is beautiful exactly the way she is.
She is enough exactly as she is.
That is not something I was given growing up. So it is the first thing I give her. Every day. Without conditions.
If you are breaking a cycle nobody taught you how to break β€” I see you. It is the hardest and the most important work you will ever do.
πŸ’› Save this if it spoke to you. Share it with a mama who needs to hear it today.

You don't call for help.
You don't wake him up.
You just got up. Again and again - everytime.
Because somewhere along the way, you stopped expecting anyone to notice.
You became the one who handles it.
The sickness. The worry. The 2am.
All of it. Alone.
And the saddest part?
You are not even angry anymore.
You are just… tired.
To every mother doing it all tonight β€”
We see you.
And to every father who is still asleep β€”
it's not too late to wake up.

What if the memory she talks about for the rest of her life costs you nothing but an afternoon?
Not a holiday. Not a theme park. Not a perfectly planned day. Just you, her, a garage full of paint and zero rules. Just permission β€” yours and hers β€” to make an absolute mess and laugh until your stomach hurts.
She will not remember the clean house. She will not remember the errands you ran or the emails you answered. But this? The afternoon her mama threw blue paint back at her and laughed so hard she cried? She will tell her own children about this one day.
You do not need much to be her favourite memory, mama. You just need to show up and let go.

Mama,
🚫🚫🚫Stop. Breathe. And book that spa day, today!

You have been running on empty for too long β€” giving, doing, fixing, holding it all together.
But here is the truth nobody told you β€” you cannot pour from an empty cup.
Fill yourself up first. Watch how everything changes.
A cared-for mama loves deeper. Always. 🀍

When was the last time you stopped β€” really stopped β€” for her?
She didn't ask for much. Just one minute. Just your eyes on her drawing, your smile telling her it was beautiful. But the emails couldn't wait. The call couldn't wait. And so she waited instead β€” arms out, heart open, learning for the first time that some things matter more than her.
Put the phone down, mama. She's only this little once.

When did you start believing that rest was something you had to earn?
You have been running on empty for so long you forgot what full even feels like. The guilt follows you everywhere β€” even here, even now, a small voice whispering that you should be doing something, being somewhere, giving more.
But here is what nobody told you, mama. Your children do not need a perfect mother. They need a happy one. A present one. A whole one. And you cannot pour from a cup that has been empty for years.
This is not selfish. This is the most loving thing you have done in a long time. Rest. Breathe. Come back to them fuller than when you left.

Do you realise that one day, she will be too old, too cold or even too busy for this?
One day she will have her own friends, her own world, her own evenings that don't include you. πŸ˜”
She will still love you β€” deeply, completely β€” but she will not climb onto the sofa in her little robe and demand you put cucumber on your eyes with her. She will not giggle at you with one eye peeking out from under her face mask like it is the funniest thing she has ever seen. She will not look at you the way she looks at you right now β€” like you are the most magical, most wonderful, most favourite person in her entire universe.
But that is not today.
Today she chose you. Today you are her best friend, her spa partner, her whole world. Today she is right here β€” warm and silly and completely yours.
So put the mask on, mama. Let the cucumber fall off. Laugh until your stomach hurts. Be ridiculous together. Be present together. Be everything to each other β€” because this version of her, the one who wants nothing more than an evening just like this with just you β€” she will not be little forever.
Hold her close tonight. This is the good stuff.
