📣Attention Waitsfield readers: The Harwood Unified Union School District School Board has an opening from your town to fill through Town Meeting Day in March. Interested individuals should send a letter of interest to the board chair and superintendent by the end of this week. The board hopes to interview applicants and appoint one next week.
This is to fill the spot held by Bobbi Rood, who resigned last week. (see link in comments)

Heads up to motorists on I-89 southbound between Richmond and Waterbury for night work this week, including Thursday night southbound ramp closures at Exit 11 in Richmond. Work should wrap up on Duxbury Road in Bolton by Friday. The I-89 project from Waterbury to Montpelier is nearly complete. A few small ditch projects are underway in Waterbury.

Mad River Valley Rotary hosts its annual Great Duck Race on Sunday, Sept. 6, when hundreds of plastic ducks will be launched on the Mad River to support Rotary projects in the coming year. Donate to sponsor a duck or ducks either online or at several locations.

This event on Saturday at Lawson's Finest Liquids in Waitsfield will help boost the funding that the nonprofit LIFT organization has to offer scholarships to Harwood students interested in student travel-study opportunities. It's a memorial project honoring the memory of former Harwood student Cyrus Zschau.

For the third year, a local nonprofit created to support high school travel study scholarships will host a fundraiser on Aug. 29 to continue its work in the coming year.
