The fae warrior who hates humans saved my life tonight.

I’m still trying to understand why.

One moment I was lost in the forest beyond the court, surrounded by creatures I definitely wasn’t supposed to see… and the next he appeared out of the shadows, sword drawn, eyes glowing like moonlight.

The creatures vanished instantly.

I thanked him, expecting him to disappear just as quickly. Instead he stepped closer, studying me like I was the dangerous one.

“You shouldn’t be here,” he said.

I told him I knew.

But when I turned to leave, his hand closed around mine to stop me.

“Unfortunately,” he added quietly, “now that you are… I can’t let anyone else find you.”

The fae prince everyone adores asked me to dance tonight.

I knew accepting was a mistake the moment his rival—the dark prince the court whispers about—walked into the ballroom.

The music slowed, the prince spun me closer, and suddenly the entire room felt colder.

When the dance ended, I turned… and the dark prince was already standing there waiting.

He took my hand before anyone else could and pulled me into the next dance like it had been planned all along.

“You look surprised,” he murmured as we moved across the floor.

I told him I didn’t expect him to dance. He smiled slightly. “I didn’t,” he said. “Until he touched you.”

The villain of the fae court never speaks during council meetings.

He just sits beside the throne like a storm waiting to break while nobles argue about politics and war.

But tonight a noble decided to insult the “human guest” the queen insisted on keeping.

Me.

I was prepared to ignore it until the noble grabbed my arm and tried to pull me from the room.

The villain stood up so suddenly the entire court went silent. He didn’t shout. He didn’t threaten. He just looked at the man touching me and said one calm sentence that made even the queen freeze.

“Remove your hand… before I remove it for you.”

I made the mistake every human in the fae lands is warned about—I made a bargain.

It seemed harmless at the time.

A single promise in exchange for safe passage through the forest.

But tonight the mark on my wrist started glowing, and the most feared warrior in the court grabbed my arm and stared at it like I’d just declared war.

“Where did you get this?” he asked.

I told him it was nothing… just a small deal with a fae I barely knew.

His jaw tightened, and for the first time since I met him, he looked genuinely worried. “That wasn’t a bargain,” he said quietly. “That was a bond.”

The fae court warned me not to look at him.

Not the prince.

Not the generals. Him.

The one who stood in the shadows behind the throne—the queen’s executioner.

They said he was the reason entire kingdoms disappeared.

So naturally… the first time our eyes met across the ballroom, I couldn’t look away.

Hours later I felt a hand close around my wrist in the dark corridor behind the court.

His voice was low, dangerous. “You should stop staring at me like that, little human.”

I asked him why.

He leaned close enough that I felt his breath against my ear and whispered, “Because one day I might stop pretending I don’t want you.”

‘You really should stop wandering around alone at night.’... 🤯🤯🤯

Everyone fears the High Fae warlord who burned kingdoms for less than a whisper of betrayal. They say his court is built on bones and that no one has ever heard him laugh. But last night, when I was dragged before him in chains, the room went silent—not because he was angry… but because the ruthless villain who terrifies entire realms went completely still when he looked at me. His voice dropped to something dangerously soft as he said my name like he’d been searching for me for centuries. The problem is… I have no idea who he is. And judging by the fury in his enemies’ eyes, finding out might start a war...
