Signed, sealed and delivered soon! Waxahachie alumnus Preston Hodge has inked an Undrafted Free Agent contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars!

Colorado Buffs beat reporter Thomas Gorski wrote of Hodge ahead of the NFL Draft, “His length, ball skills, and competitiveness in coverage give him a realistic path to becoming a reliable secondary depth player at the next level.

“Those traits helped him hold his own against opposing passing games despite limited help around him.”

Aidan Checketts reported Buffs head coach Deion Sanders made sure the 6-0, 200-pound defensive back understood he could “be great.”

“When I look at this, and I see these guys slotted to go first round and your name ain’t in there, that makes me mad,” Sanders added. “Ok, let’s go get it.”

: Former Waxahachie football and track standout Keith Abney II was selected by the Detroit Lions in the 5th Rd (157 overall) of the NFL Draft!

Mel Kipper Jr. was quick to label Abney as the “steal” of Day 3 live on the ESPN broadcast.

Here’s what NFL analyst Lance Zierlein had to say about Abney after his 3 years as an all-conference cornerback at Arizona State, “Feisty boundary corner with the makeup to slide inside and become a problem for offenses as a pro nickelback. Abney’s coverage IQ and competitiveness are loud on tape. He pairs impressive instincts and recognition with the ball skills of a receiver.“

The Texas Rangers have traded 5 top-20 prospects for LHP MacKenzie Gore, a former 3rd overall pick of the San Diego Padres.

Gore was acquired by the Washington Nationals as the headliner in a trade that sent Juan Soto to the Padres ahead of the 2024 season. He was the No. 3 ranked prospect in baseball at the time.

What a night! The second annual All-Ellis County All-Star volleyball game did not disappoint.

The West side defeated the East in 4 thrilling sets and the near-capacity crowd cheered on every hard-earned point. Seeing the best of the best that Ellis County has to offer on the volleyball court not just play, but compete was exhilarating!

Congratulations to the West team and to Avalon junior middle blocker Brooklyn De La Garza on being named the game’s MVP!

Special thank you to celebrity coaches Hank and Nick Moore for coaching the two sides AND bringing over 50 of their club volleyball players to cheer on the varsity student-athletes!

If you’re making the trip to watch the 2nd annual All-Ellis County All-Star volleyball match tonight at Midlothian Historic Gymnasium Project, check out the map attached with areas in blue marking the parking and overflow parking (at The Mile). There are a few street parking spots also.

Match starts at 6:30 p.m. and there’s no cost for entry! Come out and support some of the most talented student-athletes from across Ellis County in one of the most unique and historic venues in Texas!

Some no-good, dirty scoundrel did a not very merry thing this past Saturday at Midlothian ISD Mulipurpose Stadium — and we are certain Santa saw it happen, as it happened in the MIDDLE of the Midlothian Christmas Parade, which coincided with the finish of the Waxahachie vs Duncanville 6A Regional championship.

Tre has been shooting for ECS Media all fall. He does it at no cost and as a way to help build his brand and talents. He is also a Waxahachie high school student.
