Please be mindful of this. It is winter and all the vegetation is dry and overgrown in many places. Look around your property and see where you can clear out much of this and especially away from structures, hay stacks, wood stacks and all other areas. Clearing out these areas by either removing or working with your local department to do prescribed burns will lessen wildfires running rampant across your land.

Even though it looks calm outside, dry winter grasses burn faster than most people expect. Fuels are cured, moisture is low, and the combination of warm temps and wind means fires will run.

READY:
• Clear dry vegetation around your home and fence lines.
• Keep equipment, trailers, and vehicles away from tall grass.
• Check that chains, mowers, and tools aren’t throwing sparks.

RESPOND:
If you spot a roadside fire or drifting smoke, call 911 right away. Quick reporting makes a huge difference during fast-moving grass fires.

RECOVER:
If your property is impacted by fire, save receipts, photos, and reports to help with insurance claims.

Fire safety is a community effort — thank you for doing your part.
